How We Treat

Manual Therapy

Manual pelvic floor therapy is a hands-on approach to treating pelvic floor dysfunction.

Internal and external manual techniques are used to address muscle tension, trigger points, scar tissue, or other issues affecting the pelvic floor muscles. These techniques typically include myofascial release, trigger point therapy, scar tissue mobilization, and connective tissue manipulation.

Internal manual therapy involves the insertion of a gloved finger into the vagina or rectum to access the pelvic floor muscles directly. Gentle pressure and stretching releases tension and improves muscle function. External manual therapy involves working on the muscles and connective tissues around the pelvis using techniques such as myofascial release, stretching, and joint mobilization.
